Accreditation for energy management systems

The management system certification body must be able to demonstrate its competence to assess and certify an energy management system in compliance with ISO 50001.

Its overall objective is to implement systems and processes that ensure significant reductions in energy consumption, leading to corresponding reductions in costs and greenhouse gas emissions achievable through systematic energy management.

The standard complies with the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 management systems currently adopted throughout the industry, and it makes it easier for organizations to integrate energy management into their overall quality improvement and environmental management efforts.

A certification body applying for ISO 50001 accreditation must comply with ISO/IEC 17021, ISO 50003 and other additional international requirements detailed in the Specific Accreditation Requirements for the EnMS Scheme
